My son was recently diagnosed with ADHD and Aspergers.  He is 10 years old and in the fourth grade.  He has trouble with friendships and social skills.  Are there any other parents in the Dayton area who would possibly be interested in  starting a support group for parents and their children? I think it would be wonderful if we could get together for some social gatherings like skating, putt -putt, nature walks, etc.  If interested, please reply.  I am new to this site and am very impressed already.  Thanks, Carolyn

Welcome! I have emailed a friend who works with families in Ohio, hopefully you will hear from Donna soon. You have an incredible resource in Ohio, The Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence  (www.ocali.org) When I have alittle more time i will post about some of the stuff my almost 10 year old is doing for support in school- we have a great team working with him!
Thanks for the kind words about the site- we are just trying to offer a place for people to exchange ideas and support. The folks on here are the best!

i also wanted to mention there is an ohio parents guide resource on ocali's site   http://www.ocali.org/family/fs_res_guide.php  .
you can find more about it under the heading 'in the news' on this forum.
